testing for JRE

Postby edwardsmarkf » Wed Jun 08, 2011 6:21 am

hello all -

one of my biggest headaches when supporting any java app has always been to determine if (HUGE IF) the user even has java installed.

i came across this:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2111 ... -using-php

its the best way i have found so far to determine JRE up front:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://java.com/js/deployJava.js"></script>
<script type='text/javascript' >

window.onload = javaSonicsPageHasLoaded();
function javaSonicsPageHasLoaded() {
. . . . .if ( deployJava.getJREs() == '' ) { // in other words, if there is NO jre
. . . . . . . . . alert('no java installed!');
. . . . .}
