Audio Troubleshooting Key : Check Speakers

Are your speakers connected?

Check your speaker connections:

  1. Confirm that your your power cord is connected to a working outlet.
  2. Confirm that sound cable is plugged into the appropriate jack on PC.
  3. Confirm that speakers are connected.
  4. Confirm that speakers are turned on and that the volume is set appropriately

After making any necessary changes, try to play a sound file again.

If you ARE NOT able to hear sound coming from your speakers/headphones AND you have an IPOD or some other sound device, unplug your speakers from the back of the computer and connect your IPOD or sound device to the speakers instead. Try playing the sound file again. If you continue to experience the problem, than your problem is most likely related to your speakers. Review your documentation for speaker cable configuration and consult with your IT dept. or speaker manufacturer for further assistance.

If you don't have an IPOD or some other sound device or ARE NOT able to hear sound coming from your speakers/headphones after performing the steps above, contact your IT Department or select Windows Support link below to go to the Windows Support Website, or MAC Support Website then follow the instructions to get to the Sound Troubleshooter.
