Macintosh Pitch Bug
ListenUp uses JavaSound to record audio. Apple JavaSound (as of 3/4/08) can only record at 44100 Hz. We perform sample rate conversion inside ListenUp to support other sample rates.
Bug: There is a bug in Apple JavaSound. If the audio hardware is configured to record at a rate other then 44100 Hz then JavaSound will record faster or slower than 44100. But ListenUp will think the data is at 44100 Hz. When the audio is played back it may sound higher or lower in pitch. If it is low in pitch then it will also sound slower.
Workaround: Configure your audio hardware so that it records at 44100 Hz. This might involve setting a physical switch on an external device. Or it may involve using the "Audio MIDI Setup" program in the "Applications/Utilities" folder.
